Week 85 - Örnsköldsvik

Week 85 - Örnsköldsvik

Mom, dad... If you've had a hard time pronouncing my areas before, good luck with this one. We found out about transfers here in the office Thursday night and got done ordering all the travel last night a little past 10:30 P.M. I'll be leaving for Örnsköldsvik this Wednesday after helping with transfers one more time. I'm super excited! Örnsköldsvik is a small branch in the Norrland district with maybe 20 active members. My new companion's name is Elder Gilson and he's a chill homie. I've met him a few times and heard a lot of good things about him. On my way up, I'll actually be stopping in my first area, Sundsvall. (He tells me he is picking up a car there that he will me using in his new area) Looking forward to it :)

This week was a lot of fun. I sure will miss the office and being here with Elder Hughes, Lewis, and Dumas. It's been a fun transfer. I've learned a ton here in the office from all the people I've met and especially from my three companions here and the five other missionaries I've been able to live with throughout my four months here.

Well, that's the news this week!
Love you all thanks for your prayers,
Äldste Denton

Week 84 - Awesome Week

Äldste Denton called on Mother's Day which was awesome and then again this morning. Lucky Me!
Once he gets transferred it won't be as likely that he will be able to face time us.
Currently, he lives above the Mission office so it is easy access.

Here is his letter this week

Week 84 - Awesome Week
We found a guy on Facebook this week! It was probably my first time seeing direct results from Facebook like that. He just friended me and then I messaged him. Turns out he had met the missionaries at the Book of Mormon musical and thought they were cool. They had given him a Book of Mormon too. We got him in contact with the missionaries where he lives and he'll probably be moving to Stockholm next month. Super cool experience. There's people everywhere prepared to learn about the gospel :)

This was probably my last Sunday in the Stockholm ward since next week is stake conference and then I'm probably transferring. I've loved my time here.

Have a great week!
Love,

Week 83 - Dancing Queen

Week 83 - Dancing Queen

Any ABBA fans out there? Here's a story for ya.

We were tipped off by a member of the church living in a very nice, nearby neighborhood that a member of ABBA lived in his area and he even told us which house he had heard it was. We had been tracking pretty close to this area and I was pretty sure I knew which house he was talking about. So on Saturday, we decided to we were going to make history and teach Björn Ulvaeus the restoration. We decided to do some tracking in the area first and then end with his house. These were some big houses. They were on the cliffs overlooking the ocean and it felt like we were climbing a mountain just to knock on every door. The most common reaction we got here was actually no answer. My guess is that lots of people were out doing stuff since it was a beautiful spring Saturday. After a couple hours, we decide to finish strong and we went to the house we thought it was. It's built on it's own little island, so we crossed his bridge and came to a big gate with a doorbell and a camera. Then we rang it. We saw a head poke up in one of the windows, then another, then a couple more... Then the door opened and a guy in his mid thirties came down to the gate with a couple little kids trailing behind and probably his wife standing in the doorway. We told him who we were and invited him to listen to our message. He was nice, but not really interested. Then we left. We figured that probably wasn't Björn, but then we checked on this app that tells who lives everywhere in Sweden and it really was his house! So we figure that was probably one of his kids and their families or something. Maybe we'll try again when there's a Porsche out front instead of a Toyota.

I have exactly 100 days left on my mission today. Crazy. I have loved my time on my mission and I feel liked I've grown so much serving Jesus Christ. I'm looking forward to the best 100 days of my mission. I'm going to sprint to the finish.

Love you all!

Week 82 - Everything Coming Up Daisies

Week 82 - Everything Coming Up Daisies

I swear everything turned green in like four days. There's flowers everywhere. It's so pretty.

This week feels like it's flown by. We got a lot of work in the office done so hopefully we'll be able to get out and proselyte more than usual.

Leo is doing good and is making good friends with the YSA. They went and saw End Game together and didn't even share any spoilers.

Sorry, I don't have much time at all this week, but here are some pictures!

Have a good one!

Week 81 - Summer is that You?

Week 81 - Summer is that You?

We've had some beautiful, sunny weather here in Stockholm. Last year this time there was snow on the ground. Now it's been hanging out around the mid to high 60's with lots of sunshine. Man it feels good.

It's been an eventful week with ups and downs. Leo is doing good. He's got a lot of faith and he's learning at a really fast pace. I'm really impressed with him.

We swung by to visit an American family that moved in recently yesterday and it was a good time. We had a message about baptism since their son is getting ready to be baptized. Super nice family. We helped them burn some dead stuff.

Easter was fun. I'm always really impressed with how the Swedes can take a holiday and make it into a week long vacation. Easter is a big deal here. They start out with fun pastries on fat Tuesday right before lent, they get the whole week off leading up to Easter and good Friday, Easter eve, Easter, and the second day of Easter are all national holidays which means most businesses are closed and public transportation goes significantly less often. We ate a nice Easter dinner with the office couple we work with the Bailey's. Super fun. Got some nice American cooking

A scripture I liked this week was
2 Nephi 7:1 (Isaiah 50:1). I love how makes it clear that if we seem to be abandoned by God, it's not because he doesn't care, and it's not because he doesn't have the power to. He never breaks his covenents with us. It's only us that do that. But he's always willing to help us repent and he has what we need.

Hope you all have a great week!

Easter pics and our p-day adventure of hiking to a lake and having a
campfire/picnic. Pretty fun! That thing I'm eating is some dough I roasted with butter, cinnamon, and sugar. Tasty.
