Week 80 - Elder Hughes 👌👌👌
Week 80 - Elder Hughes 👌👌👌
We transferred this week. It feels like Elder Hughes has been here a month but it's only been like 4 days or something. He's awesome by the way. Some fun facts about him: He likes playing the paino and is good at it! His favorite is jazz piano. He's really chill and a genius. There hasn't been a problem with computers or anything that he hasn't been able to figure out yet.

We had
dinner at the bishop's house with Leo on Saturday. He had a really good
time and said it was good to hear some different perspectives on the
gospel and how to deal with opposition, especially from our bishop who
was baptized about two years ago. None of Leo's friends or family really
believe in God and are having a hard time understanding his choice to
be baptized. He is learning and progressing really well otherwise and it
was awesome to hear the visiting stake high council member not believe
us when we told him Leo wasn't a member yet. He is super awesome and
it's really an honor to be able to teach him.
I
love my mission. I love the gospel. I have seen so many good things in
my life come through patiently enduring trials and quietly obeying God's
commandments. I have gained a deep and abiding testimony of what Joseph
Smith was told by God while suffering Liberty jail:
"And
if thou shouldst be cast into the pit, or into the hands of murderers,
and the sentence of death passed upon thee; if thou be cast into the
deep; if the billowing surge conspire against thee; if fierce winds
become thine enemy; if the heavens gather blackness, and all the
elements combine to hedge up the way; and above all, if the very jaws of
hell shall gape open the mouth wide after thee, know thou, my son, that
all these things shall give thee experience, and shall be for thy good.
The Son of Man hath descended below them all. Art thou greater than he?
Therefore, hold on thy way....."
Have a great week!

Here's some pictures of our six-man here in the office which has now split up. Heros get remembered, but legends never die.
Week 79 - Transfers and General Conference
Week 79 - Transfers and General Conference
We're
teaching Leo right now and he is AWESOME. He came to all four sessions
of conference with us on the weekend and got answers to his questions.
His goal is to read the entire Book of Mormon before he's baptized. He's
doing really good and has made it halfway through Alma! We went biking
with him today for p-day and he showed us around a place called
Djursholm. Apparently the most expensive neighborhood in Sweden. Huge
mansions and beautiful landscape. It snowed this morning and it was
little chilly, but it was so fun. It's been such a pleasure to be able
to teach Leo. He is an amazing guy. Watching the change taking place in
him has been one the most sacred experiences of my life :)

Transfers
are here and I'm getting a new companion. His name is Elder Hughes. I'm
excited to get to know him better and work with him :) Definitely going
to miss Elder Tolman though. I'm very grateful for all the good times
and everything he's taught me.
Well that's the news. Love you all!

Week 78 - VÃ¥ren
Week 78 - VÃ¥ren
Sorry I haven't been writing too much... Ever since I've been able to Skype with my family it's been tougher to find the time.

Sorry I haven't been writing too much... Ever since I've been able to Skype with my family it's been tougher to find the time.
It's
been a good week. Our friend Leo is doing great. He's apparently read
like half of the Book of Mormon. His goal is to finish before he's
baptized and it sounds like he's on track. We stopped meeting with
another guy named David. He honestly made so much progress, but he
didn't want to cause tension with his wife. He went from not believing
in God or an afterlife to believing in both and coming to church. I
think he'll revisit it at some point when he's in a better position to
progress.
We have
transfers coming up next week and we'll be finding out what's happening
within the next few days so we can start ordering the travel. The office
will probably be changing quite a bit. After we're done, the only two
left of the six of us could be Elder Lewis and I.
I've
been reading D&C backwards, one section a day, for a countdown of
how many days I have left of my mission. It's crazy how little time I
have left! I really want to appreciate every day. Pretty much everybody
I've served with is going home or already home! They'll just be a few
left in couple months.
Well hope you all have a wonderful week!
Our friend Leo
