Week 73 - Transfers

Week 73 - Transfers

What a crazy week! No one in my area is changing, but we're getting two more missionaries into our apartment which will make us six strong here. Transfers were super exhausting ordering travel. We'll see how things go as people start moving on Tuesday!

We got let in tracting and got let in by an Estonian lady who was super nice and wants to come to church!

I also got to go to the Clouse's (apartment couple) house and have dinner, but instead of them cooking for us, we cooked for them :) We made orange chicken and it turned out pretty good thanks to the panda express recipe Elder Bjornn gave me :)

We just got back from Vaxholm just outside Stockholm. It felt like a spring day today and almost all the snow has melted. We've really been getting an early spring here :)

Love you all so much!
Have a great week!

Week 72 - Lights, Camera, Action

Week 72 - Lights, Camera, Action

Wow this week has felt like a blur. I thought February just started but now it's almost over! Transfers calls are a week from yesterday so my companion and I will probably be finding out what's happening within the next few days so we can order all the travel before then.

Highlight of the week was probably a concert we had for the Stockholm area with Savannah Stevenson. She's a British stage actress and singer who played Mary in the Bible videos and also Glinda in Wicked on The West End. The idea of the concert was to work as a missionary event where people could invite their friends. Savannah talked about her faith and stuff as well as singing musical theater selections and also Consider the Lillies. The concert was in the Gubbängen chapel which was my second Area. It felt like coming home a little. I got to be the spotlight guy on the left and my old ward mission leader Pablo was the spotlight guy on the right. That was pretty fun and I got paid in sandwiches and a free concert.

Also I can message/call my family every week now. That's pretty weird. Definitely a change! I've really enjoyed it today :)

We also invited the financial couple we work with to dinner at our apartment last week. That was super fun. We're usually not allowed to have guests but they're missionaries so it's chill :)

Have a great week!

Week 71 - Weekly Email

Week 71 - Weekly Email

Hey I'm sorry, I don't have much time to write an email this week, but here are some updates Life is good here in Stockholm. The snow is melting and I think we're getting an early spring. You never know here though. Winter can really stretch out sometimes. We just found out that my companion Elder Youngberg is going to be the one to fill the gap in Stockholm. (Going to be a companion to a suddenly single Elder who needs a companion) We're not sure if he'll be back in two weeks or what but probably not.
We have been meeting with a couple that used to take the lessons. He's Swedish and she's Irish. She's from Cork. It's like being back in Ireland. She is the most friendly person ever and she'll talk your ear off. We are having a big concert put on by the church. Savannah Stevenson will be singing and also talking about her faith. It's going to be a great missionary opportunity. We invited this couple and they said they'd love to come! We couldn't be more excited. We are also bringing a couple hundred Book of Mormons to it :)

**Also my email is changing to carter.denton@missionary.org so if you could spread the word that would be great :)

Week 70 - There Snow Place Like Stockholm

Week 70 - There Snow Place Like Stockholm

We got dumped on this week. We've now got knee deep snow covering roofs, trees, and bus stops. It's beautiful. After it got done snowing yesterday, the temperature started dropping like crazy. It ended up going from about 32° to hitting it's low last night of 3°. That's the thing with winter in Sweden. When you get snow, it doesn't melt. You've got it pretty much until spring. We're looking at a very cold, bright winter morning now here in Stockholm with more snow forecasted for the week. We've been tackling each other in the snow, having snow ball fights, building snow forts. It kinda feels like we live on a ski resort. Makes me want to ski. In fact, we couldn't get to church yesterday because all the busses were canceled and our van was snowed in, so our mission president came and picked us up for church. There weren't that many people in church because lots of people were snowed in, but it seemed like all the Americans in our ward made without a problem. I guess having a bulky car pays off every now and again.

We taught a British guy this week we've been working with. He's cool. He showed us an igloo he and his kids made. It was legit! He's open and read in the Book of Mormon since last time so that was awesome! He's a really nice guy.

Things have been chill now that mission tour is over. Thinking about it now, I don't think I've mentioned mission tour yet. We had mission tour and Elder De Feyo came and presided. It was a great learning experience and also a lot of work for us. We ordered flights, trains, hotels... You name it. Every one in the mission gathered within three days. Now that everyone is back in their areas and transfers aren't for a couple weeks, things are very chill for us. We've been getting out and teaching and it's felt super good. And things are really moving forward!

Well that's been my week! Hope you all have a good one :)

We went to a butterfly house today. They had different sections. One was a rainforest, one was like a tropical feel, and one was an aquarium (no butterflies, just sharks and jelly fish). It was a nice break from the snow. It was warm and humid and there was a bunch of animals and fish and plants. It was cool.

Week 69 - Stormy Weather

Week 69 - Stormy Weather

We've been having great weather if you ask me. The colder it is during the winter, the easier it is to stay warm. When it's warm in the winter, you get slush and rain, and then you get wet, and that makes you cold. If it's just plain old cold and snowy like it's been here, you stay dry and warm :)

The only catch is that we have mission tour this weekend which means flights. Flights plus snow storms equal canceled flights. Canceled flights plus office Elders equals crunch time and quick thinking. It's supposed to snow all week so hopefully it'll let off just enough for some flights to get out of Stockholm.

We met with a woman from Stockholm who lives part time In Aruba and met the missionaries there and wanted to meet us so she could get a Swedish Book of Mormon. She was super awesome and willing to read. In fact she promised to have read the whole thing by the time she got back from Aruba again in two weeks. So we'll see where that goes!

We also ate dinner with some awesome members in their awesome apartment in the middle of Stockholm. Check out the pictures.

Have a good one!
